2 Corinthians 6:17-18 NIV
[17] Therefore, “Come out from them and be separate, says the Lord. Touch no unclean thing, and I will receive you.” [18] And, “I will be a Father to you, and you will be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty.”
Come out of living like the unbelievers. We are called to be holy which means set apart. We are called to be different. That is what it means to hate what you once loved. The things that are sinful and worldly make us unclean and we should want to turn from it. Even when we fail and fall into old habits and temptations, if saved we should have a genuine desire to want to stop. When we put our faith fully in Jesus then we have a heavenly Father who will forgive us.
Esther 3:2-3 NIV
[2] All the royal officials at the king’s gate knelt down and paid honor to Haman, for the king had commanded this concerning him. But Mordecai would not kneel down or pay him honor. [3] Then the royal officials at the king’s gate asked Mordecai, “Why do you disobey the king’s command?”
When we are faced with a decision to do what is right or to follow the crowd we will do what is right. Putting Christ first and not compromising in what we believe and standing up for what is biblical should be something we want to do more than please the crowd or the one.
Esther 3:6 NIV
[6] Yet having learned who Mordecai’s people were, he scorned the idea of killing only Mordecai. Instead Haman looked for a way to destroy all Mordecai’s people, the Jews, throughout the whole kingdom of Xerxes.
Esther 3:13 NIV
[13] Dispatches were sent by couriers to all the king’s provinces with the order to destroy, kill and annihilate all the Jews—young and old, women and children—on a single day, the thirteenth day of the twelfth month, the month of Adar, and to plunder their goods.
We should not be surprised when the world scorns us for speaking truth and doing the right thing. They may even take things to an extreme like wanting to wipe out an entire nation because of anger at one person. But God will protect us provide for us. If you are not reading all the scripture, if you have never read or studied the book of Esther you should.
True saving faith makes us different and should result in change and action.
