ZECHARIAH 12:1-13:9

REVELATION 19:1-21

PSALM 147:1-20

PROVERBS 31:1-7

Zechariah 13:7 “Awake, sword, against my shepherd,

    against the man who is close to me!”

    declares the Lord Almighty.

“Strike the shepherd,

    and the sheep will be scattered,

    and I will turn my hand against the little ones.

This is clearly Jesus and how the disciples scattered and hid in fear.

Zechariah 13:8 In the whole land,” declares the Lord,

    “two-thirds will be struck down and perish;

    yet one-third will be left in it.

This third I will put into the fire;

    I will refine them like silver

    and test them like gold.

They will call on my name

    and I will answer them;

I will say, ‘They are my people,’

    and they will say, ‘The Lord is our God.’”

This reminds me of the 1/3 of things and people being destroyed in revelation. Below from the Enduring Word Commentary. It does refer to Revelation as well.

a. I will bring the one-third through the fire: After the dispersion of Israel, there will come a time of devastation and purification through fiery trials. Two-thirds will be destroyed and the remaining third will be put through the fire but preserved.
i. This seems to suggest that only one-third of the Jewish people will survive the great tribulation. If this is the case, no wonder these years are called the time of Jacob’s trouble (Jeremiah 30:7), and why Jesus said the great tribulation will be the most horrific time in human history (Matthew 24:21).
b. They will call on My name, and I will answer them: This prophetically refers to the Jewish people who survive the great tribulation, come to salvation in the second half of that final period and welcome Jesus in the name of the LORD. This group – which includes the 144,000 of Revelation 7 and Revelation 14 but is not limited to that number – will make up the core of a restored Israel as Jesus establishes His millennial rule over the earth.

Zechariah 12:1 “The Lord, who stretches out the heavens, who lays the foundation of the earth, and who forms the human spirit within a person, declares”

God’s hand knitting us together in our mother’s womb.

We all want it to be so that even after the rapture, God will save people. I think Zechariah 13 points to just that. Revelation tells us that 2/3 of the people left in the 7 year tribulation will perish and Zechariah tells us that the 1/3 remaining will be refined and cleansed.

Revelation 15 “Coming out of his mouth is a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations.”

I always have a hard time trying to envision Jesus in this way. Bu…
