1 JOHN 4:1-21
PSALM 123:1-4
PROVERBS 29:2-4
1John 4:4 You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world. 5 They are from the world and therefore speak from the viewpoint of the world, and the world listens to them. 6 We are from God, and whoever knows God listens to us; but whoever is not from God does not listen to us. This is how we recognize the Spirit of truth and the spirit of falsehood.
The world is so loud and those who are in the world are also very loud. They speak from the viewpoint of the world and the number of those who are from the world seems to be growing. At least in places like the United States where the Sprit of truth used to be what most people looked for. Now the voice of the spirit of falsehood is louder than the voices of the Spirit of Truth. Less people are listening to the Truth of God's word and living in the Spirit of Truth. I think that is because they are not hearing the Truth. We need to make the Truth heard. The early church was very vocal and always teaching and preaching. We need to be willing to speak Truth in the Spirit of God because that is how we can discern who is from God and who is not. If we are speaking Truth those who know God will listen to what we have to say. The Spirit of Truth will reveal to them the reliability of what we are saying. And those who are not from God will not listen to us because they will listening to the spirit of falsehood which will be in opposition to what God says. The more we speak out about the Truth of God the more we will be able to grow our family of Christ around us. The better we will be at identifying our true brothers and sisters in Christ.
1John 4:17 This is how love is made complete among us so that we will have confidence on the day of judgment: In this world we are like Jesus. 18 There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.
As our family of brothers and sisters grows our capacity to love and our peace in being loved will come to completion. The more we are able to love the more like Christ we will be and the more we can confidently enter eternity and face the Bema without fear. If you are feeling any fear at the thought of standing before the judgement seat of Christ ask yourself, better yet, ask Jesus where you are lacking in your capacity to love. What spirit of falsehood are you listening to that is holding you back from being able to love fully and to have full confidence on the day of judgment?
Truth wins! Listen to the voice of Truth!
