JOEL 1:1-3:21
REVELATION 1:1-20
PSALM 128:1-6
PROVERBS 29:18
Psalm 128:1 Blessed are all who fear the Lord,
who walk in obedience to him.
2 You will eat the fruit of your labor;
blessings and prosperity will be yours.
3 Your wife will be like a fruitful vine
within your house;
your children will be like olive shoots
around your table.
4 Yes, this will be the blessing
for the man who fears the Lord.
5 May the Lord bless you from Zion;
may you see the prosperity of Jerusalem
all the days of your life.
6 May you live to see your children’s children—
peace be on Israel.
These words to each of us personally will influence more than just us. "Fear the Lord, walk in obedience to him" has influence of all areas and people in our lives. "You will eat the fruit of your labor; blessings and prosperity will be yours." What are those blessings and fruit? Your family - spouse and children will also be blessed. In context of recent posts about the church and leadership, if all the leadership in a church individually "fear the Lord, and walk in obedience to him" the fruits of their labor and blessings will also extend into their church home and family. It will influence everything we do. All of our relationships and choices and actions and the decisions of leadership will be pleasing to the Lord and we will eat the fruit of that labor and blessing and prosperity will be ours. When leadership fears the Lord and walks in obedience to Him they will be able to set an example and teach the members of the family (congregation) to do the same and those fruits and blessings will multiply.
Proverbs 29:18 Where there is no revelation, people cast off restraint;
but blessed is the one who heeds wisdom’s instruction.
We need to seek God's revelation of His truth and His will that it might restrain our personal interests and desires and we may be blessed as we heed His wisdom and instruction.
