EXODUS 29:1-31:18
Exodus 31:2 “See, I have chosen Bezalel son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah, 3 and I have filled him with the Spirit of God, with wisdom, with understanding, with knowledge and with all kinds of skills—4 to make artistic designs for work in gold, silver and bronze, 5 to cut and set stones, to work in wood, and to engage in all kinds of crafts. 6 Moreover, I have appointed Oholiab son of Ahisamak, of the tribe of Dan, to help him. Also I have given ability to all the skilled workers to make everything I have commanded you:
I wonder if Bezalel and Oholiab knew that God had called them and gifted them for His purpose before Moses went to them and said that God had told him that they were gifted and called to do this work. God gives us all gifts and talents to use for the kingdom and to His glory. I am sure that these men would have been happy just as all the other "skilled workers" mentioned to help make everything that God had commanded. But there had to be a higher call for them as they were mentioned specifically.
In fact He had given Bezalel wisdom, understanding and knowledge that came from the Spirit of God. He had a divine ability to know what needed to be accomplished and how to accomplish it. I imagine that he had to have know that at some level. And when the time came for him to have to know what to do and how to do it he would have to know for sure because the knowledge would come from being filled with the Spirit. I don't think it's possible to be filled with the Spirit of God and not know it. In the times before Pentecost the Holy Spirit would only be given to people at certain times and for specific reasons. At Pentecost the Holy Spirit came to live in the heart of every believer. But I there is a difference between having the Spirit live in you and being filled with the Spirit. We also are filled when the Spirit at times when we are being given some gift, leading or wisdom from the Spirit of God. Being filled with the Holy Spirit feels different. There is a sense of things that are not coming from you. This internal sensation is often accompanied by externally visible experiences. I see it as our human body being unable to contain the power of God that is actively working in us. It would be like plugging a high voltage power line directly into a household appliance. We just can't contain and direct all that power on our own. I sometimes tremble all over. When I first experienced that I called it the spiritual shakes. I also am frequently brought to uncontrollable sobbing tears. I have heard of people who laugh uncontrollably. You might have to jump up and down. It's different for everyone but when you are filled with the Spirit you know it and when you are surrendered to the Spirit others around you will know it too. If you have never sought a filling of the Holy Spirit. Spend some time meditating on God's Word. Open your heart your mind and your hands and invite the Holy Spirit to fill you. Ask Him to lead you.
