Mark 5:7-8 NIV

[7] He shouted at the top of his voice, “What do you want with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? In God’s name don’t torture me!” [8] For Jesus had said to him, “Come out of this man, you impure spirit!”

Another incident where evil spirits know who Jesus is and believe it to be true. See the post from the 12th. Posts | Wix.com

Just believing in who Jesus is will not save you. It is trusting in who He is and what He has done for you. Once you realize what he has done for you, there will be a change.

Mark 5:18-20 NIV

[18] As Jesus was getting into the boat, the man who had been demon-possessed begged to go with him. [19] Jesus did not let him, but said, “Go home to your own people and tell them how much the Lord has done for you, and how he has had mercy on you.” [20] So the man went away and began to tell in the Decapolis how much Jesus had done for him. And all the people were amazed.

This man is a picture of what it is like to be set from sin and death through Jesus.

The demon-possessed man's response is what our response should be.

Want to stay with Jesus, follow Jesus.

Tell people about Jesus and what He has done for you.

When we experience Jesus in our lives we are changed. This makes me think that when we are saved by Jesus it is like He is casting out the impure spirit in our hearts. Before Jesus our hearts are ruled by our sinful nature. After Jesus our heart is ruled by Jesus through the power of the Holy Spirit.

We may still struggle with temptation but when confronted with the truth of Jesus our response should be that of love, dedication and faithfulness.

Not why are you bothering with me Jesus? (What do you want me me...?) Why are you punishing me? (don't torture me) I don't want to do what you say I should do. (don't send me out of the area) How about instead of stopping me completely you let me do something else that's not as bad. (go and possess some pigs instead of a person)

If we consider what it means for God Himself would come down to us in order to set us free we should be blown away. Because who the Son sets free is free indeed.

Fear circles but Truth Repeats

Choosing to trust in the middle of test results and uncertainty… that is faith with skin on it.

Psalm 46 is not a soft, gentle psalm. It’s written for shaking ground. And right now, my medical reports can feel exactly like that.

The psalm talks about mountains falling and waters roaring — that’s chaos. But the people in the psalm don’t disappear from the chaos. They stay in it; anchored.

Today I walked through the Psalm given to me by God in a blog, slowly, verse by verse, and laid my bloodwork, my diagnoses, and my pain right next to it.

“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.”
