February 5, 2025 -Asking for Help

EXODUS 13:1-15:27

Exodus 15:24 Then the people complained and turned against Moses. “What are we going to drink?” they demanded. 25 So Moses cried out to the Lord for help, and the Lord showed him a piece of wood. Moses threw it into the water, and this made the water good to drink.

It was there at Marah that the Lord set before them the following decree as a standard to test their faithfulness to him. 26 He said, “If you will listen carefully to the voice of the Lord your God and do what is right in his sight, obeying his commands and keeping all his decrees, then I will not make you suffer any of the diseases I sent on the Egyptians; for I am the Lord who heals you.”

Today and tomorrow I am crying out to the Lord for help. My niece had expressed her frustration, fear and hopelessness in the attempts to figure out why she is having strokes at such a young age. She does not have a foundation of faith to stand on and does not have a history with God to look back on like the Israelites did. So, no wonder she is complaining as she wanders in the desert of medical testing and unanswered questions.

Lord, I pray that you would lead the doctors to the right tests and to reach the right conclusions with a cloud of smoke and pillar of fire that cannot be missed. Part the waters of frustration and reliance on self and other broken humans and lead her to the truth. The promised land that you have to offer that she might be strengthened to endure. Let her know that you are fighting for her. Let her feel the prayers of all those who are praying for her as she goes through these two days of testing. Let her feel your peace in such a way that she notices the difference. Lead someone to her that can touch her life and speak love and peace so that the bitterness would be removed. Just as you lead Moses to the piece of wood that when it touched the water the bitterness was removed, and it was good to drink. May she come to drink from the living water that Your Son Jesus Christ has to offer her. Surround her with people who know you and love you who will be Jesus to her. In Jesus Name I pray. Amen
