JOB 19:1-21:34
Job 21:7 Why do the wicked live on,
growing old and increasing in power?
8 They see their children established around them,
their offspring before their eyes.
9 Their homes are safe and free from fear;
the rod of God is not on them.
10 Their bulls never fail to breed;
their cows calve and do not miscarry.
11 They send forth their children as a flock;
their little ones dance about.
12 They sing to the music of timbrel and lyre;
they make merry to the sound of the pipe.
13 They spend their years in prosperity
and go down to the grave in peace.
14 Yet they say to God, ‘Leave us alone!
We have no desire to know your ways.
15 Who is the Almighty, that we should serve him?
What would we gain by praying to him?’
16 But their prosperity is not in their own hands,
so I stand aloof from the plans of the wicked.
It is difficult when we are suffering to see evil people who deny God and even blaspheme Him and see their blessings, their good lives and happiness and ask why? We know that God is the one who provides and blesses, but they won't acknowledge Him. It can be frustrating and confusing. But we know that blessings here are not what matters. We have the ultimate blessing and prosperity to look forward to for eternity and those who deny God do not. Their happiness on earth will be of no value to them in their eternity. When we trust in God in the midst of our suffering we are storing up blessings for eternity. Because in eternity we will be able to see all that God has done and how He has used all that suffering for His good and we will praise Him for it. I love what Marcy said on 1/20/25. Think about such things.
If you are a Job, remember how much God trusted Job to not turn away from Him. Don’t just identify with Job’s suffering but focus on his relationship with God. Post this scripture around your home to turn your focus to God when pain, suffering, and trials rage around you.
“Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.” Philippians 4:8-9 NIV




It can be very hard to minister to people that are suffering. We can’t just say to them, ‘praise God because He is good, your body doesn’t matter, or this pain and this world are temporary, don’t focus on it’. Unless ofcourse they already know Job. Instead of simply speaking truth, we have to first meet them where they are at and then walk beside them to steer them in ways of Job.
I thank every Job that I know for showing me how to walk with God through pain and suffering. This lesson started with the Job of the Bible, but it continues today in the Oriole around us. It is to the benefit of everyone who needs…
