GENESIS 11:1-26
1 CHRONICLES 1:24-27
GENESIS 11:27-31
GENESIS 12:1-14:24
Genesis 13:3 From the Negev he went from place to place until he came to Bethel, to the place between Bethel and Ai where his tent had been earlier 4 and where he had first built an altar. There Abram called on the name of the Lord.
The first thing Abram did when he got there was build an alter. In doing so He was recognizing and honoring God for His faithfulness provision and direction as well as setting up something that would help him to remember what God had done for him. He had the stories of his people from Adam and Eve through Noah to his own experiences with God. He had faith enough to pick up and go just because God had told him to even though he had no idea where he was going for sure. He knows that God will do what He says He will do. And he knows that when God say don't do this or I will... and you do it, God does what He said He will do. But as we saw before this that Abram still tries to take things into his own hands.
Genesis 12:11 As he was about to enter Egypt, he said to his wife Sarai, “I know what a beautiful woman you are. 12 When the Egyptians see you, they will say, ‘This is his wife.’ Then they will kill me but will let you live. 13 Say you are my sister, so that I will be treated well for your sake and my life will be spared because of you.”
Don't we do the same thing? We forget all that God has done and has promised to do and try to make things happen on our own. Sometimes trusting God is difficult but the more we remember what He has done and promises to do the better we will be at remembering and honoring Him. We have a nation that has forgotten what God had done and what God had promised and is trying to do things on their own as well. We are still receiving blessing and protection in many ways as God provides for us. I believe that He protects our nation for those who are faithful to Him. Lord may more and more people in our land turn to you, trust you, honor you and remember your promises.
Genesis 13:14 The Lord said to Abram after Lot had parted from him, “Look around from where you are, to the north and south, to the east and west. 15 All the land that you see I will give to you and your offspring forever. 16 I will make your offspring like the dust of the earth, so that if anyone could count the dust, then your offspring could be counted. 17 Go, walk through the length and breadth of the land, for I am giving it to you.”
18 So Abram went to live near the great trees of Mamre at Hebron, where he pitched his tents. There he built an altar to the Lord.
God had given Abram a promise and by faith Abram builds an alter to honor the Lord and to remember that promise and the fact that He had brought them this far. What promises of God do you need to remember and how can you build an alter to the Lord to honor Him and to remember. I think that in a way this blog is like that for me. It helps me to hear from God, trust Him and to remember all that He has done from the beginning of time to my present day and it brings me to a place of honoring Him and helps me to trust Him more and more.

My most recent health adventure, recent conversations and this post has reminded about spiritual milestones. It may not be an altar, per se, but I need to start another list of God’s faithfulness to me. I have started them in the past, forget about and misplace them. I received a beautiful journal as a gift and will purpose it to recalling and recording His faithfulness and the blessings He has provided. Why now? because recently, I realized that when I am going through some type of trial or when life hurts, I’ve been taking the long way around to trusting him or calling on him for strength or not walking in his truth. Perhaps a visual of his love for…
