Psalms 62:1-8 NIV
[1] Truly my soul finds rest in God; my salvation comes from him. [2] Truly he is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will never be shaken. [3] How long will you assault me? Would all of you throw me down— this leaning wall, this tottering fence? [4] Surely they intend to topple me from my lofty place; they take delight in lies. With their mouths they bless, but in their hearts they curse. [5] Yes, my soul, find rest in God; my hope comes from him. [6] Truly he is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will not be shaken. [7] My salvation and my honor depend on God; he is my mighty rock, my refuge. [8] Trust in him at all times, you people; pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge.
When I read this I said it out loud the things that I know to be true. Truly my soul finds rest in God. I know this is true but why don't I not feel it even though I seek it. I know that He is my rock, salvation and fortress but I feel shaken. Then I read "How long will you assault me?" David was under attack. I feel under attack. He talks about being toppled from his lofty place. I realize that I take an assault to my integrity as a knocking me down from a lofty place. The fact that I can't let go is prideful. They very well may be taking delight in lies. There is a lot of blessing with the mouth and I feel like there is cursing in their hearts. But I can't really know that. It is just how I feel and I am having trouble handing it over to God. I think David was having a hard time because he keeps telling Himself truths again and again. "Yes, my soul, find rest in God; my hope comes from him." He is telling himself to find rest in God and again states what is true because he is having trouble feeling it. "Trust in him at all times you people pour out your hearts to him for God is our refuge." I keep repeating these truths to myself and I wonder if it is working. But I know that it is. The truth will always win out over lies. It's just that in this life the lies are often louder so we need to listen harder and speak the truths louder and longer than the lies.
2 Corinthians 2:10-11 NIV
[10] Anyone you forgive, I also forgive. And what I have forgiven—if there was anything to forgive—I have forgiven in the sight of Christ for your sake, [11] in order that Satan might not outwit us. For we are not unaware of his schemes.
Satan is the author of lies and makes me not want to forgive but I will forgive as Christ forgave me. Even in my sin and even when I didn't deserve it. Renew my mind Lord. Create a clean heart within me and teach me how to forgive.
2 Corinthians 2:15-16 NIV
[15] For we are to God the pleasing aroma of Christ among those who are being saved and those who are perishing. [16] To the one we are an aroma that brings death; to the other, an aroma that brings life. And who is equal to such a task?
I would rather they see Jesus than me through this because I am not a Christlike aroma to anyone right now. Not to the saved or the unsaved. Yes, my soul find rest in the Lord!
