Psalms 77:7-8 NIV

[7] “Will the Lord reject forever? Will he never show his favor again? [8] Has his unfailing love vanished forever? Has his promise failed for all time?

There are so many times that a Psalmist sings a song of lament. David did it a lot. This one is "For Jeduthun. Of Asaph. A psalm." This is just a bit of the crying out to the Lord in lament that starts this Psalm. Yesterday at the Table we talked about Psalm 22 which is a Psalm of David doing the same thing. A song of lament. Pouring out his feeling. His concern. His grief.

Psalms 77:11-14 NIV

[11] I will remember the deeds of the Lord; yes, I will remember your miracles of long ago. [12] I will consider all your works and meditate on all your mighty deeds.” [13] Your ways, God, are holy. What god is as great as our God? [14] You are the God who performs miracles; you display your power among the peoples.

Just like David Asaph knew that the way to overcome all these overwhelming feelings, fears and frustrations is to remember who God is.

Luke 11:2 NIV

[2] He said to them, “When you pray, say: “ ‘Father, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come.

When Jesus teaches the disciples to pray the prayer starts with praising God. Acknowledging that He is Holy. Just as the Psalm proclaims and remembers that His ways are Holy. Holy meaning separate, different, set apart. There is no god like Him. Nothing can compare to His greatness. No one can do the miraculous things that He does. When we remember how great He is it can help us to trust Him. But the Psalms show us that even though we know how great He is we still can struggle. Being that He is omniscient (knows all things) there is no reason to restrain our lament. He knows what we are thinking and feeling so it is okay to be honest with Him.

Luke 11:8 NIV

[8] I tell you, even though he will not get up and give you the bread because of friendship, yet because of your shameless audacity he will surely get up and give you as much as you need.

It is also okay to pray over and over again for things. I can't understand how it works but Jesus said that we should pray and not hold back. Ask and keep on asking. Do it with confidence in the omnis of God. The I AM. That way no matter what the answer is you can find rest.
