Deuteronomy 18:1-20:20
Luke 9:28-50
Psalm 73:1-28
Proverbs 12:10
Deuteronomy18:15 The Lord your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among you, from your fellow Israelites. You must listen to him.
There are many prophets after Moses that this could and does apply to. God had guided His people through the prophets of the Old Testament but ultimately the Israelites were looking forward to one particular prophet. The Messiah.
Deuteronomy 18:20 But a prophet who presumes to speak in my name anything I have not commanded, or a prophet who speaks in the name of other gods, is to be put to death.”
He warns them that there will be many false prophets and that there are steep consequences for them. They must take care to be sure that they test what a prophet says. They should not be fooled.
Deuteronomy 18:22 If what a prophet proclaims in the name of the Lord does not take place or come true, that is a message the Lord has not spoken. That prophet has spoken presumptuously, so do not be alarmed.
I had only remembered the scripture in the New Testament about testing a prophet. But we see in Deuteronomy that Moses told them that if what a prophet proclaims does not come true then it did not come from the Lord. A prophet must also only speak in the name of the Lord and no other, god and what they say must line up with the truth revealed in scripture.
Luke 9:29 As he was praying, the appearance of his face changed, and his clothes became as bright as a flash of lightning. 30 Two men, Moses and Elijah, appeared in glorious splendor, talking with Jesus.
Jesus did come and fulfilled all those things and the disciples with Him at the transfiguration those who were with him witnessed a taste of His glory. A hint of what it will be like in heaven with Jesus.
Psalm 73:24 You guide me with your counsel,
and afterward you will take me into glory.
This April fool's day and day after Easter may we rejoice in these truths. Under examination we know that Jesus came and fulfilled the promise of the coming Messiah. He guides us with His counsel and after this life He will take us into His glory and the only fool is the one who does not see it.

In Sunday school this past week somebody asked why there was no more profits in the Bible after John and Jesus, my response was that Jesus was the last prophet, and he left behind the Holy Spirit to dwell in each and every Christian. Therefore we are now the profits proclaiming the good news, just my opinion
