John 4:29-30 NIV

[29] “Come, see a man who told me everything I ever did. Could this be the Messiah?” [30] They came out of the town and made their way toward him.

I have studied and written a lot about the woman at the well. Isn't it great how you can read the same passage of the bible a thousand times and it never gets old? Today reading it in the mind set of Jesus as the Messiah I am not focusing on the woman as I have often done as a woman. Instead, I want to focus on Jesus. Jesus knew everything about this woman. Of course, He is omniscient, so He knows everything. He didn't just know what was going on in her life right now she knew her whole life. He knows because He was there. He is omnipresent. He is not limited by time and space. He is proving Himself as God the Son and Messiah. By doing so not only did the woman believe but His work in her life drew more people to Him. He was the one doing the work. Sure, the woman told them about Jesus and presented the question to them that He could be the Messiah, but it is Jesus who draws them to Him. In His omnipotence. He has the power to reach even the hardest of hearts if it is in His heart plan and timing.

John 4:39-42 NIV

[39] Many of the Samaritans from that town believed in him because of the woman’s testimony, “He told me everything I ever did.” [40] So when the Samaritans came to him, they urged him to stay with them, and he stayed two days. [41] And because of his words many more became believers. [42] They said to the woman, “We no longer believe just because of what you said; now we have heard for ourselves, and we know that this man really is the Savior of the world.”

Now many Samaritans believe because He also showed Himself as Messiah through His actions. He knew what they needed to see and hear in order for them to believe. Samaritans who were hated by the Jews were loved by Jesus. In His omnibenevolence, being all good and all loving, He reached out to the unloved and met them where they were saying and doing what they needed to hear and experience to put their faith in Him.

He does the same things for us today. He knows everything there is to know about us in all times. from before we were conceived for eternity. He has the power to draw us to Him, but He does not make us believe in him. Instead, he meets us where we are and will shows us what we need to experience and hear what we need to hear to put our faith in Him. But it is all according to His will and His timing. Impossible for us to understand but it is true.
