John 12:27-29 NIV
[27] “Now my soul is troubled, and what shall I say? ‘Father, save me from this hour’? No, it was for this very reason I came to this hour. [28] Father, glorify your name!” Then a voice came from heaven, “I have glorified it, and will glorify it again.” [29] The crowd that was there and heard it said it had thundered; others said an angel had spoken to him.
When I read this I didn't remember reading it in the past even though I know I did and probably even commented on it. I think because it is not in any of the other gospel accounts, I read it less often, so it doesn't stick with me. This had to be shared in John's account because it shows Jesus as God. As I am reading it again and writing I am remembering the scene from The Chosen. I think it was in the Palm Sunday episode. I have linked it below. It includes through verse 36. It is a good representation on it. It shows the different reactions of all those who were present. Those who heard thunder and those who heard the voice. If you can listen on a head set it is much better.
John 12:44-46 NIV
[44] Then Jesus cried out, “Whoever believes in me does not believe in me only, but in the one who sent me. [45] The one who looks at me is seeing the one who sent me. [46] I have come into the world as a light, so that no one who believes in me should stay in darkness.
This is the time for many things to happen. The final push before the crucifixion. Things are amping up. He is making sure that the gospel message is clearly stated. But the amping up is not just for more people to believe in Jesus but for His deity to be made known, and for the Jewish leadership to "build their case" against Him so that He will be taken to the cross in His perfect timing.
