Nahum 1:1 A prophecy concerning Nineveh. The book of the vision of Nahum the Elkoshite.
As I read Nahum's prophesy all I could think is this would have pleased Jonah. Jonah who didn't want Nineveh to be saved only spoke 5 words in Hebrew and the people responded. Here we are centuries later and Nineveh has fallen so far away that Nahum uses a lot more words to describe their upcoming destruction. God knew that the people would respond and Jonah's 5 words would be enough. He also knew that there would be no response from Nahum's words. So, He made sure everyone even us today had a full understanding of the depth of their sin and His might. God's greatness and sovereignty is so very cool!!
