JEREMIAH 22:24-23:32
Jeremiah 23:23 “Am I only a God nearby,”
declares the Lord,
“and not a God far away?
Isn't this a form of trying to put God in a box. A box that gives us some peace and a sense of control. If God is only a God nearby, then He has limits. Then we don't have to go to Him regarding things not close at hand. Then maybe He can't really see and know all things. As I shared yesterday those who put God in a box miss the truth of who God is. Their minds are closed to the truth. And end up being closed to Jesus. They cannot and will not follow the Lord because He does not fit into their box. He is not what they want Him to be. When you talk to unbelievers that is often the problem. They have created a box for who they think God is and their minds are closed to seeing who He really is. They may want to hide or deny sin in their lives. They may want to blame God for the suffering in their lives. They may be afraid of losing control. So, they put Him in the God nearby box and live as through staying as far from God as they can means that they don't have to see Him or be seen by Him. But those boxes that are trying to put God in are really boxes that they have put themselves in. Boxes that act like a prison. The sin in their lives will hold them captive without Jesus. Dwelling on the difficulties in their lives without having Jesus and the Holy Spirit in them is a prison of suffering and keeps them from moving on. Trying to stay in control of every aspect of your life is a prison of stress and disappointment. Jesus sets you free from those prisons when you open your mind to the truth.
Jeremiah 23:24 Who can hide in secret places
so that I cannot see them?”
declares the Lord.
“Do not I fill heaven and earth?”
declares the Lord.
The truth is that there is no place for anyone to hide that He cannot see. He is everywhere all the time (omnipresent). When your mind is open to the truth and Jesus becomes who He really is, Son of David, Messiah, and Savior, you are set free from all those prisons. The sin you want to hide has already been seen and the work to forgive it has already been done. You can come to know and see Jesus who was there through your suffering. When the truth of His omnipresence is received and you can look forward instead of back because you will not be alone. And in my experience the truth that He is in control of all things and has power over all things (sovereign) is the most freeing of them all. Our belief that we can and should control things is such a lie. I mean really can we control anything? The sin that we struggle with has control over us. The situation that we found ourselves in that caused suffering was clearly out of our control because who would choose to live through suffering. But when we know that God is in control and can use all things for our good and His glory it takes the burden off of us. I have never felt so free as when I am walking in this truth.
Open your mind to the truth of all that Jesus is and let Him set you free in all things.

There is such freedom in this truth and I was mind blown when it was revealed to me. Not only I began to walk in freedom but those around me that I had chains on were freed from my flawed perception that I could control them. If only I say the right thing, if only I overextend myself, if I yell at them real good, prove my case through endless words, throw in crying to get their attention, then I am controlling the situation and the other person, and gaining my outcome. Failed attempts every time. Fights and arguments abounding. Hurt feelings and wedges driven into my relationships. It was only when God so lovingly showed me this i…
Jeremiah 23:3-6
3 “I myself will gather the remnant of my flock out of all the countries where I have driven them and will bring them back to their pasture, where they will be fruitful and increase in number. 4 I will place shepherds over them who will tend them, and they will no longer be afraid or terrified, nor will any be missing,” declares the Lord.
5 “The days are coming,” declares the Lord,
“when I will raise up for David a righteous Branch,
a King who will reign wisely and do what is just and right in the land.
6 In his days Judah will be saved and Israel will live in safety. This is the name b…
