EZEKIEL 3:16-4:17
JEREMIAH 27:1-28:17
JEREMIAH 51:59-64
Ezekiel 3:17 “Son of man, I have made you a watchman for the people of Israel; so hear the word I speak and give them warning from me. 18 When I say to a wicked person, ‘You will surely die,’ and you do not warn them or speak out to dissuade them from their evil ways in order to save their life, that wicked person will die for their sin, and I will hold you accountable for their blood. 19 But if you do warn the wicked person and they do not turn from their wickedness or from their evil ways, they will die for their sin; but you will have saved yourself.
20 “Again, when a righteous person turns from their righteousness and does evil, and I put a stumbling block before them, they will die. Since you did not warn them, they will die for their sin. The righteous things that person did will not be remembered, and I will hold you accountable for their blood. 21 But if you do warn the righteous person not to sin and they do not sin, they will surely live because they took warning, and you will have saved yourself.”
At first when I read this, I felt the importance of speaking truth to people when it is God prompting you to. Understanding that it is important to seek clarity and confirmation that it is from God and not just my own opinion. But the second time I read through it, it is my concern that I need to be willing to receive truth from those who are called to speak it to me. Not only is it for my good but it is for their good as well. When we are called to speak something to someone God will give us clarity and confirmation if we seek it and sometimes even if we don't seek it. If we ignore it, we are held accountable for that. So, I ask and encourage anyone who is feeling led by the Spirit to talk to me about anything. Sin in my life, from things I am doing to things I am not doing and whatever else God may want to tell me. Please do! I trust that if the Lord has called you, He will give you the words and the countenance to do it according to His purpose. I hope that I recognize it and receive it and repent but if I don't it is only on me then. I would never want anyone to disobey God because they are uncomfortable saying something to me. Please don't suffer for my sin. My desire is to have a heart of repentance, but I cannot always see where that repentance is needed.
