1John 2:7 Dear friends, I am not writing you a new command but an old one, which you have had since the beginning. This old command is the message you have heard. 8 Yet I am writing you a new command; its truth is seen in him and in you, because the darkness is passing and the true light is already shining.

The new command is the same as the one they have been being taught since they became Christians and that is to love one another. The TRUTH of that command is seen in Jesus in all He did and preached. "Love the Lord your God with all your heart...and love your neighbor as yourself." When we are not loving our brothers and sisters in Christ there is still some darkness we are walking in but as the darkness passes from us there will be change in us. We will be different in these areas and as the TRUE light shines brighter and brighter we will find ourselves able to love those that we were previously not able to love. So, if you are struggling with loving a brother or sister in Christ ask God to reveal to you what darkness it is that you are still walking in and shine the TRUTH of the light of Christ into it.
