Mark 7:37 NIV

[37] People were overwhelmed with amazement. “He has done everything well,” they said. “He even makes the deaf hear and the mute speak.”

I rest in the overwhelming amazement of Jesus. Yesterday I was having another tough day at work and I took a little walk around the building trying to pray but struggling to do it. I had already read the scripture and nothing stood out even when I went back and look at it again. After this time of prayer. I looked at the first line of the Psalm. The one verse that I posted yesterday because in that second it not only stood out but it changed me. "Great is the Lord and most worthy of praise..." The reminder of His greatness immediately changed how I felt. It was like peace washed over me. Then last night at The Table we talked about Matthew 11:28-30

28“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.29Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.30For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

When someone asked another person in the group if they can think of a particular time when they felt an immediate answer to a prayer. I realized that I did when I prayed. The answer came as soon as I came to Him. I was feeling weary and heavily burdened. In turning to Him in prayer then to Him in His word the yoke that was on me was removed and I became yoked to Him. Connected to Him so that He could walk with me through this. It was like He gently wrapped me in His arms and eased my burden and gave me rest.

What does it look like to come to Him when we are weary and burdened and take His yoke on us? For me it means remembering and acknowledging that GREAT IS THE LORD! HE HAS DONE EVERYTHING WELL. HE MAKES THE DEAF HEAR AND THE MUTE SPEAK.

If I truly believe those things then I must believe that He already has a plan worked out for any burden I am carrying. If someone needs to hear something that He needs them to hear they will. If someone needs to say something He can prompt them to do that. There is no reason for me to carry the burden of having hurt feelings or feeling unjustly treated because Jesus is with me and He knows the truth. He has the power to overcome all lies with truth and there is nothing I need to do or can do that He can't do so much more. When I am yoked to Him, He will carry the weight, and I can let it go and rest.
