Matthew 26:27 Then he took a cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you.28This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.29I tell you, I will not drink from this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father’s kingdom.”

When I read the words "day when I drink it new with you in my Father's kingdom" I was filled with desire for that day. I can only imagine what it might be like to sit with Jesus face to face, talking, eating, drinking, learning and laughing. Come Lord Jesus. But these words remind me of what my friend Karen said just this past Monday. She also often prays the same words but at the same time she prays "Thank you Lord for not coming." Because she has loved ones that are still lost. We are so blessed to have a savior who is patient and full of loving kindness. He will not return until all have had an opportunity to come to join us at the table in His Kingdom.

Matthew 26:75 Then Peter remembered the word Jesus had spoken: “Before the rooster crows, you will disown me three times.” And he went outside and wept bitterly.

Aren't we also so blessed to have a savior who is full of mercy and loving kindness. To think that Peter who becomes the rock the early church was built on was able to falter when things got tough, we cannot expect to do much better. And knowing the rest of the story that Jesus forgives him and restores him. We can rest in knowing that He will forgive us and restore us as well when we falter.

Thank you Jesus, my loving and merciful savior who is filled with loving kindness.
