PSALM 120

PSALM 121

PSALM 123

PSALM 125

PSALM 126

Psalm 121:1 I lift up my eyes to the mountains—

where does my help come from?

My help comes from the Lord,

the Maker of heaven and earth.

I read this and thought at least I have another song to share.

Psalm 123:1 I lift up my eyes to you,

to you who sit enthroned in heaven.

As the eyes of slaves look to the hand of their master,

as the eyes of a female slave look to the hand of her mistress,

so our eyes look to the Lord our God,

till he shows us his mercy.

Then the next Psalm started with the same words. So, it made me think about those words. I lift my eyes. What does it mean to lift your eyes toward something. Of course it means to look at something. But verse 2 gave me more insight. A slave does not just look at their master or mistress to see them. They are looking to them for instruction, for guidance, for provision, and for mercy. We who are frequently disobedient slaves to our Lord and Master can look to Him for mercy. We should also look to Him for guidance and provision trusting in it and living according to it. The more we do that the less we will need forgiveness and mercy.
