2 KINGS 20:1-11
ISAIAH 38:1-8
2 CHRONICLES 32:24-31
ISAIAH 38:9-22
2 KINGS 20:12-19
ISAIAH 39:1-8
2Kings 20:5 “Go back and tell Hezekiah, the ruler of my people, ‘This is what the Lord, the God of your father David, says: I have heard your prayer and seen your tears; I will heal you. On the third day from now you will go up to the temple of the Lord. 6 I will add fifteen years to your life. And I will deliver you and this city from the hand of the king of Assyria. I will defend this city for my sake and for the sake of my servant David.’”
Why pray? Because God has shown over and over again that it matters. I don't know how to make sense of it. I don't know why God who had to have known that Hezekiah was going to pray and knew that He was going to give him 15 more years wanted Hezekiah to pray before healing him. If you listened to the message I shared from Tim Mackie, then you know that prayer is about relationship. This answered prayer not only influences Hezekiah's relationship with God but it had to have influenced all the Israelites relationship with God. Just as today these words influence our relationship with God. When we pray what we think is about us and what we are praying for may be answered yes, no, or not yet for so many other and greater reasons. But whatever the answer we should still pray and do it trusting God. Praying like Jesus did. Not my will but thy will be done. Because our reason for praying may not be what the prayer is all about in God's greater plan.
