1 KINGS 17:1-7

So much evil in the eyes of the Lord. So much trusting everything and everybody but the Lord.

If I am remembering correctly Israel's kings are not of the line of David. They consistently do evil in the eyes of the Lord. Judah does have a descendant of David still on the throne as God had promised. They do follow the ways of their father David. Which means they do what's right in the eyes of the Lord mostly but also sometimes trust in things of this world. Not surprising. After all they are human. Each nation followed the way of those before them. It takes a person willing to put God first to turn a nation back to God. I think as individuals we need to decide what ways we will follow. The ways of the land we live in or the ways of the Lord.

Give me eyes to see and ears to hear and a heart to not follow in the ways of the country I am living in. But to follow in your ways. And I ask for your forgiveness and mercy when in my humanity I fail to walk with you. I ask Lord for you to give us leaders who will follow your ways and that they would rely on you to give them victory over the enemy.
