1 KINGS 20:23-22:9
2 CHRONICLES 18:1-8

2 Chronicles 18:7 The king of Israel answered Jehoshaphat, “There is still one prophet through whom we can inquire of the Lord, but I hate him because he never prophesies anything good about me, but always bad. He is Micaiah son of Imlah.”
“The king should not say such a thing,” Jehoshaphat replied.
None of us like it when someone speaks truths to us that we don't want to hear. But when it is God directing that person's words it doesn't matter if we listen to them or not. It doesn't matter whether we like the person or even say we hate them. Nothing we can say, do, or not do can change what God would say. There are still prophets in the world today. They are not the same as the prophets of the Old Testament because they are not giving some new revelation, but God speaks truth through them. It could be truth about your life. It could be about something that God is doing or going to accomplish, or a calling for someone to service etc.
We shouldn't say "I don't want to talk to this person because he never tells me what I want to hear". If their words have been proven true in the past then our response should be "I may not like what he has to say but if God is directing them, I will trust Him. After all the words are not those of the prophet but the words of God.
