Romans 2:19-21 NIV

[19] if you are convinced that you are a guide for the blind, a light for those who are in the dark, [20] an instructor of the foolish, a teacher of little children, because you have in the law the embodiment of knowledge and truth— [21] you, then, who teach others, do you not teach yourself? You who preach against stealing, do you steal?

I have seen God use me for all of these things. This is a reminder that this blog is not just to teach, guide and bring light and truth to those who read it. It is to be a place to journal what God is saying to me. My thoughts and attitude should be as it is in many other areas of my life. Whether anyone reads it or not it is a place that holds me accountable not just to read the bible but to seek the Lord on what He has to say to me. I need to learn as much as I need to teach. This is to be about Him and my relationship with Him. Not about other people reading it. I am not saying that if you are reading this that you should stop. It is to be a place for a reader to come and read the daily bible reading and seek the Lord's guidance. It is a place to share what God is putting on your heart as you read so that He might speak to others through you.

Romans 2:29 NIV

[29] No, a person is a Jew who is one inwardly; and circumcision is circumcision of the heart, by the Spirit, not by the written code. Such a person’s praise is not from other people, but from God.

I do believe that I have a circumcised heart therefor none of this should be to receive any recognition or praise from anyone else. Only God. If he prompts people to read and uses this to help others be active in their daily reading of His word, then it is Him doing the work. I am always grateful when others read and especially when others share their thoughts on the word. It teaches and encourages me and sometimes confirms what God is saying to me. But God can do that even without a word from anyone else if that is what needs to be done.

So, read my words or don't. That doesn't matter. What matters is that you are reading God's word. I had gotten lazy in my bible reading and was listening to it while doing other things. This made it impossible for me to really pay attention. He deserves my undivided attention. He deserves that effort to read instead of listen, even when I am listening intently. If I can't sacrifice my time to get to know God better and hear what He has to say to me through His Spirit, then I am no better than those who never read the word. Verse 21 starts into a call to practice what you preach so to speak. I tell people to read God's word. To make Him a priority and read with a listening heart. I need to do the same. Instead of stealing time from God I need to give Him my time.
