This is about the rest of prayer. Confession, intercession and petition. It's time for me to start the prayer journal again.

Psalms 31:1-5 NIV

[1] In you, Lord, I have taken refuge; let me never be put to shame; deliver me in your righteousness. [2] Turn your ear to me, come quickly to my rescue; be my rock of refuge, a strong fortress to save me. [3] Since you are my rock and my fortress, for the sake of your name lead and guide me. [4] Keep me free from the trap that is set for me, for you are my refuge. [5] Into your hands I commit my spirit; deliver me, Lord, my faithful God.

I was thinking that today would be the next aspect of prayer, confession. But this is petition which would be after confession and intercession. I think this is a great prayer of petition (prayer for ourselves) I think that anything that I could need prayer for it would fall into some aspect of this prayer.

Romans 12:1-2 NIV

[1] Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. [2] Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

This is what I want to pray as part of my confession time. As I remind myself the secret to fighting sin is to be transformed by the renewing of my mind as I offer my body as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God in true and proper worship. My desire is always to seek His good pleasing and perfect will and this is the way to do it.

Romans 12:3-5 NIV

[3] For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the faith God has distributed to each of you. [4] For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, [5] so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.

I ask that God would help me to look at myself with sobor judgment so that I would recognize my sin, confess it and repent from it. Also, that when I pray intercessory prayers that I will do it remembering that we are all one body. That my concern for others in the body of Christ should be the same as my concern for myself.

Romans 12:12-13 NIV

[12] Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. [13] Share with the Lord’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality.

I love this as prayers for myself and every member of the body of Christ.

Romans 12:17-21

[17] Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everyone. [18] If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. [19] Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” says the Lord. [20] On the contrary: “If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head.” [21] Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

This is to bring the peace when confronted with evil because we live in a world that evil is all around us and is encouraged in many ways.
