Psalms 8:1 NIV
[1] Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory in the heavens.
This psalm is great to start working through the different aspects of prayer. It is good to have some scripture to use to start off your prayer time. I like to start praise time with this verse. It gets me thinking of the greatness of the creator God. It helps me to take Him out of the box that my human understanding wants to put Him in and put Him back where He should be. The all-mighty creator of all things in heaven and earth.
Psalms 8:3-4 NIV
[3] When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, [4] what is mankind that you are mindful of them, human beings that you care for them?
I use these verses also to transition to thanksgiving. It helps me to move to thanksgiving for all the things that I am praising Him for. It humbles me when I think what is mankind that you are of them which helps me to move into thanksgiving for all the things that He provides for me.
Who am I that the almighty creator of the universe would be mindful of me, care for me and provide for me. Thank you, Lord God! May your mighty and majestic name be praised not just by me but by all things in heaven and on earth. Amen
