PSALM 35-38

Chronological Bible Readings

1 Contend, Lord, with those who contend with me;

    fight against those who fight against me.

2 Take up shield and armor;

    arise and come to my aid.

3 Brandish spear and javelin

    against those who pursue me.

Say to me,

    “I am your salvation.”

I read this today in light of sensing there is a HUGE spiritual battle going on in our church right now. I know that David is talking about his real and human enemies but I pray this over myself, my friends and my church.

Contend, Lord, with those forces who contend with us. Fight against the spiritual forces who fight against us. Surround us with your shield and armor as you arise and come to our aid. Brandish your spear and javelin against the enemy who pursues us. We know that you are our salvation, and we join you in speaking that truth against the lies of the enemy.

This is your church and we are your people whom you love. We trust in your protection against all that the enemy will try to do to stop us. We know that you are the victor. Your will is going to be done no matter what the enemy tries to do to stop us. You will use even our struggles, arguments, discontentment, frustrations, disappointments and pain for your good. Create in us a clean heart oh God and renew a steadfast Sprit within us. Transform our hearts and minds that we may be able to test and approve what you will is, that we might continue to walk in obedience to you and with love for one another. In Jesus name I pray Amen!
