1Kings 3:3 Solomon showed his love for the Lord by walking according to the instructions given him by his father David, except that he offered sacrifices and burned incense on the high places.

2Chronicles 1:1 Solomon son of David established himself firmly over his kingdom, for the Lord his God was with him and made him exceedingly great.

Soloman walked according to the instructions his father gave him. He loved God and God was with him and made him exceedingly great. But he is still human. In his humanity he still sinned. There is nothing that we can do to live a sin free life. We can walk with God every day and have His hand of blessing on us and we can still be sucked into the influences of the world. Even though we should strive to walk in obedience to our Father in Heaven when we do fail, we can rest in the comfort that we are in good company. All the greatest men of God failed as well. Just as God forgives and continues to bless them, He will do the same for everyone who also strives to walk according to the instruction given to us by the Father.
