1 Kings 8:54 When Solomon had finished all these prayers and supplications to the Lord, he rose from before the altar of the Lord, where he had been kneeling with his hands spread out toward heaven. 55 He stood and blessed the whole assembly of Israel in a loud voice, saying:
I love this picture of humble submission in prayer to our great and powerful God. His prayer was done on his knees with his hands spread out toward heaven. Then he stands to bless the people. He stands to speak a blessing over them. I believe that our physical state and position matters when we pray. It is an outward picture of our hearts. Granted we may not always be able to assume an appropriate position and we know God knows our hearts so He doesn't need us to be in a particular position to pray. However, our position can make a difference to us and those around us. Our position of prayer can directly influence our state of mind and willingness of heart. And in public prayer it can convey your heart to those we are praying with and God can use that in whatever way a person may need to accomplish His will.




whether shouting from a mountain top, on bended knee, the whispers in the halls of a hospital, the groans of grief or the pleading repeated prayers for relief from a bed of pain. The lifting of eyes for strength to speak truth and so many other positions of prayer. Yes, God knows our hearts no matter our physical position, as long as our hearts are positioned up, He hears.
I agree that position matters, to the one praying and God will put us in the posture that we need for projecting prayers out for others or the direct prayers from our hearts to His ear.
We only need to follow his lead.
