PROVERBS 5:1-7:27

Proverbs 7:10 Then out came a woman to meet him,

    dressed like a prostitute and with crafty intent.

11 (She is unruly and defiant,

    her feet never stay at home;

12 now in the street, now in the squares,

    at every corner she lurks.)

I am praying for spiritual help with this conviction to prioritize my healthy eating and drinking habits. The allure of processed, fatty and salty foods is like the fancy dressed prostitute to me. I know that all those things are actually addicting and increase cravings for more, but I give into that craving. It is the same thing with sexual sin. I remember my mom telling me that "Sex is like a drug. Once you start you won't be able to stop." Little did she know I had already found that out and knew she was right. I think that is very much what I am going through now. Going back to my healthy eating habits and honoring God by being conscientious about what I eat and drink is hard to do. The temptation is not just at the table I am eating at it is all around me. I have already fallen prey to the crafty intent of the processed food companies, advertisers and peer pressure. She is very skilled and getting herself seen and looking enticing and delicious. Temptation doesn't wait for us to come to it seeks us out. I need to turn away from it.

Proverbs 7:24 Now then, my sons, listen to me;

    pay attention to what I say.

25 Do not let your heart turn to her ways

    or stray into her paths.

26 Many are the victims she has brought down;

    her slain are a mighty throng.

27 Her house is a highway to the grave,

    leading down to the chambers of death.

I need to listen to God. I ask the Holy Spirit to govern my heart and help me to turn my heart away from these temptations. I know that eating all these unhealthy foods and drinking sodas, alcohol and other processed things are dangerous to my health. It can and will lead to all kinds of problems and disabilities and potentially even a miserable death so I must turn from them and flee.

Thank you Lord for keeping this in the forefront of my mind. Instill this understanding into my heart. May I...

Proverbs 6:21 Bind them always on [my] heart;

    fasten them around [my] neck.

So that...

Proverbs 6:22 When [I] walk, they will guide [me];

    when[I] sleep, they will watch over [me];

    when [I] awake, they will speak to [me].
