1 CHRONICLES 26:1-28:21

1 CHRONICLES 28:9 “And you, my son Solomon, acknowledge the God of your father, and serve him with wholehearted devotion and with a willing mind, for the Lord searches every heart and understands every desire and every thought. If you seek him, he will be found by you; but if you forsake him, he will reject you forever. 10 Consider now, for the Lord has chosen you to build a house as the sanctuary. Be strong and do the work.”

11 Then David gave his son Solomon the plans for the portico of the temple, its buildings, its storerooms, its upper parts, its inner rooms and the place of atonement. 12 He gave him the plans of all that the Spirit had put in his mind for the courts of the temple of the Lord and all the surrounding rooms,

Such words of truth even for today "If you seek him, he will be found by you" but we must seek with our hearts. Because "the Lord searches every heart and understands every desire and every thought."

David a poet and man of music (see yesterday's post) was given words from God by the Spirit of God to give to Solomon on the importance of serving God "with wholehearted devotion and with a willing mind", and with all the plans to build the temple and anything that has to do with it. If you are someone who often feels moved by the Spirit to accomplish something, make sure what He is telling you to accomplish. David had it on His heart to built the temple and wanted to start right away. Even though God put it on His heart to build the temple it was no for Him to do. He gave David the vision for His son. David's job was to prepare the way and to do that he had to know all the plans so he knew what was needed. When God shows you what He is planning to accomplish it can be difficult to not stop listening to God and get ahead of ourselves and try to get it done, but we must not stop seeking God once He sets us on the path. If we look to Him for each step we will be able to serve Him "with wholehearted devotion and a willing mind".

1 CHRONICLES 28:19 “All this,” David said, “I have in writing as a result of the Lord’s hand on me, and he enabled me to understand all the details of the plan.”

20 David also said to Solomon his son, “Be strong and courageous, and do the work. Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord God, my God, is with you. He will not fail you or forsake you until all the work for the service of the temple of the Lord is finished.

David sought God's direction and wrote it all down for Solomon and waiting for the right time to make him king and give him the plans. David also gave him instruction from his understanding as well as encouragement. When God puts His plans into action at the right time even if they are plans that he has put on your heart that doesn't mean you will be carrying them out. Share what God has put on your heart and give all the help that you can. Don't be upset that it is not you doing the work. Be encouraging to those God has chosen to do the work. As a take action doer kind of person that can be a struggle for me but I am so grateful that the Lord has taught me over the years how to be content in all things and to be patient and wait on His timing. Sometimes I have to accept that just because I know how to do it doesn't mean that it is my job to do. I may just be there person preparing the way giving truth and encouragement to those who are going to accomplish the work.
