Acts 3:16 NIV
[16] By faith in the name of Jesus, this man whom you see and know was made strong. It is Jesus’ name and the faith that comes through him that has completely healed him, as you can all see.
This is not just a cripple being able to move and feel his legs this is complete healing. The fact that his legs are made strong and able to support him is impossible. Something that is only possible with God. He was made strong enough to be jumping and leaping for joy. Our God can do more than we ask Him to do. I had someone sharing prayer requests who wants to be able to move to a house instead of an apartment in the city. She said that she would like to buy but she catches herself limiting God by saying if you give me a place to rent that would be okay. I would not have thought of it that way had she not said it. I would have thought she is being willing to accept whatever God provides. But I see what she means now. When we pray honestly and share what is truly on our heart, we are trusting God to not just answer our prayer but to completely answer it. We can be willing to accept His will it is not what we are asking but we should trust that he can answer what we are asking. Healings in the bible are not just physical healings they are also spiritual healings. The degree to which God healed this man physically is the degree to which He heals spiritually and the degree to which He can provide for us. He can take our lacking and our weaknesses and give us fullness and strength. He has no limits so we should not limit Him in our hearts and minds. He is limitless and we can trust in that.
Acts 3:22-24 NIV
[22] For Moses said, ‘The Lord your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among your own people; you must listen to everything he tells you. [23] Anyone who does not listen to him will be completely cut off from their people.’ [24] “Indeed, beginning with Samuel, all the prophets who have spoken have foretold these days.
I just love that we are reading Samuel right now and Peter says "Indeed, beginning with Samuel, all the prophets who have spoken have foretold these days."
