EZEKIEL 47:1-48:35
1 PETER 2:11-3:7
PSALM 119:49-64
PROVERBS 28:12-13
1Peter 2:23 When they hurled their insults at him, he did not retaliate; when he suffered, he made no threats. Instead, he entrusted himself to him who judges justly. 24 “He himself bore our sins” in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; “by his wounds you have been healed.” 25 For “you were like sheep going astray,” but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.
When they hurled their insults at Him they were lying. He did not retaliate because He knew the Truth. He knew that He could entrust Himself to the One who judges justly. He was pure and innocent and there was no sin in Him. But He took the insults and punishment because that is what our sins deserved and He carried them to the cross. And the Truth is that because of that we can die to sin and live for righteousness. All the wounds that our sin have inflicted on us are healed by His blood. Jesus is our Good Shepherd. The Overseer of our souls. Wow how I love that. But just as the sheep have to respond to the voice of the Shepherd we need to submit to the authority of our Overseer.
When we are insulted and treated unjustly we should not sin by retaliating. We should not listen to the lies because we can live in the Truth. The Truth that we have "died to sin, how can we live in it any longer?"(Romans 6) Instead we trust ourselves to the One who judges us in the light of the cross. It may not be easy to do because many times those lies will try to open up the wounds of our past but we need to remember that they have been healed. If we submit to our Overseer He will show us how to respond in grace. When we turn toward the shepherd He will protect us and guide us.

Ezekiel 47:
Then he led me back to the bank of the river.7 When I arrived there, I saw a great number of trees on each side of the river. 8 He said to me, “This water flows toward the eastern region and goes down into the Arabah, where it enters the Dead Sea. When it empties into the sea, the salty water there becomes fresh.
~ When the living water of Jesus enters our hearts, the lies, bitterness, loneliness, anxiousness, depression and worries of this world are removed and replaced with the freshness of Him.
9 Swarms of living creatures will live wherever the river flows. There will be large numbers of fish, because this water flows there and makes the salt…
