DANIEL 2:24-3:30
1 PETER 4:7-5:14
PSALM 119:81-96
PROVERBS 28:15-16
1Peter 5:5 To the elders among you, I appeal as a fellow elder and a witness of Christ’s sufferings who also will share in the glory to be revealed: 2 Be shepherds of God’s flock that is under your care, watching over them—not because you must, but because you are willing, as God wants you to be; not pursuing dishonest gain, but eager to serve; 3 not lording it over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock. 4 And when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of glory that will never fade away.
I pray this for our session. May they be shepherds of the God's flock that is under their care. May they watch over them because they want to not because they have to. May they do it the way God wants them to do it. With honesty, and eagerness to serve. May they not lord their power over those that the Lord has entrusted to their care. May they live a life that is a shining example of what it means to lead a Christ-like life and when Jesus returns, I pray they will receive the crown of glory! (see November 17th post)
1Peter 5:6 Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. 7 Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.
May the entire church humble themselves under God's mighty hand and let Him lift us up and guide us. May we rest in His assurance and not be anxious because He cares for all the church.
1Peter 5:8 Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.
May we all be alert and sober minded so that we will recognize when the enemy is prowling around. Keep our eyes and ears open and our focus on Christ that the enemy will have no power.
