23 So he said he would destroy them—

    had not Moses, his chosen one,

stood in the breach before him

    to keep his wrath from destroying them.

Moses is a picture of Jesus to us in many ways. Here he stood in the breach between the Israelites and the Father, but it was temporary. Moses had also let God down more than once. Unlike Jesus who stands in the breach between us and the Father permanently. He was able to live that perfect life that Moses could not and restores our access to the Father.
