JEREMIAH 28:1-29:32

1 TIMOTHY 1:1-20

PSALM 86:1-17

PROVERBS 25:17

1Timothy 1:15 Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners—of whom I am the worst. 16 But for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display his immense patience as an example for those who would believe in him and receive eternal life. 17 Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory for ever and ever. Amen.

I need to be better at remembering the depth of sin that Jesus has saved me from. Especially when I am tempted to criticize others. Saved and unsaved alike. I think that would make me more likely to be patient and show mercy and in that "Christ Jesus might display his immense patience as an example for those who would believe in him and receive eternal life."

Psalm 86:5 You, Lord, are forgiving and good,

abounding in love to all who call to you.

If we can live our lives showing Christ-like patience and mercy the lost are more likely to call on the Lord seeking his forgiveness and abounding love.

Psalm 86:15 But you, Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God,

slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness.

The more I remember the depth of sin from which I have been saved the Lord will be better able to work through my life to show people His compassion and grace. If I am professing to be a Christian, I must also be slow to anger and abounding in love.
