“For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be. How precious to me are your thoughts, God! How vast is the sum of them! Were I to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand— when I awake, I am still with you.”

Psalms 139:13-18 NIV

Ah the birthday Psalm again. If there is something that this world needs, it is for people understand these words. To know that we are created by God right down to the depths of our inmost being. From the very first molecule He knit us together. We are a work of God's hand. God who we cannot even come close to comprehending the greatness of. We can only fearfully wonder over the greatness, power, love, knowledge and abilities of this God who knit us together. Even before we were formed. Even before we were conceived, He knew us and saw us. It may be too wonderful for us to understand how it is true, but the truth is that He has already written the number of days in our life in His book. He knows our beginning and our end of life. But because He has known us from before we were conceived and He will know us for eternity we can trust in this knowledge. His thoughts should be precious to us. They are beyond our ability to measure. He can see beyond our limited life and choices so we can rest in that assurance.

“But there is a place where someone has testified: “What is mankind that you are mindful of them, a son of man that you care for him? You made them a little lower than the angels; you crowned them with glory and honor and put everything under their feet.” In putting everything under them, God left nothing that is not subject to them. Yet at present we do not see everything subject to them. But we do see Jesus, who was made lower than the angels for a little while, now crowned with glory and honor because he suffered death, so that by the grace of God he might taste death for everyone.”

Hebrews 2:6-9 NIV

Again, we are reminded of our maker. The creator God. This is another reference to a Psalm. Psalm 8 is packed full of praise for God the creator. Take the time to read it today as well. Not only did He fearfully and wonderfully create every human, but He has also given us authority and position over all that He has created. However, in our sinful broken word we will not see everything subject to man. We cannot stop our sinful nature or that of others. We cannot stop the evils and dangers of the world. But we can see Jesus. Jesus who also became human. He came here to live a life where all of creation was subject to Him. He never sinned. He rose the dead, healed the sick, gave sight to the blind, cast out demons and calmed the waters. And in living that life without sin He of His own will chose to suffer the punishment for our sins.

“Since the children have flesh and blood, he too shared in their humanity so that by his death he might break the power of him who holds the power of death—that is, the devil— and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death. For surely it is not angels he helps, but Abraham’s descendants. For this reason he had to be made like them, fully human in every way, in order that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in service to God, and that he might make atonement for the sins of the people. Because he himself suffered when he was tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted.”

Hebrews 2:14-18 NIV

All things were subject to Him. He could have stopped any of it from happening, but He didn't. Jesus put Himself on the cross so that He might suffer the death that we deserve. He did that for us. But even death is subject to Him. He rose from the dead making a way for our eternity to be with Him instead of the torment that we deserve. The book of Hebrews is written to Jewish believers who are the descendants of Abraham but we are told in Galatians 3:29 "If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise." so we are included in the promise that Jesus came to help us. He atoned for our sin and is able to understand what we are going through when we are tempted because He was also tempted in every way, but He did not sin.

He created us and He saved us because He loves us.
