October 19, 2026 -Approach with Confidence

“Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account. Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has ascended into heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin. Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.”
Hebrews 4:13-16 NIV
Think about what it means for everything to be "laid bare" before Jesus. There is nothing we can hide from Him. A high priest is the person chosen to stand between God and the people as bridge, mediator, and advocate who offers the gifts and sacrifices for the people to God. Jesus is the "great high priest" who is not only the bridge, mediator, and advocate who offered the sacrifice, He is God. He is the sacrifice. The perfect sacrifice. And being one with the Father He ascended into heaven and is personally standing between us and the Father so that the Father sees us through Jesus and that is why we can be seen as clean. He understands every one of our temptations and struggles because He experienced them but did not sin. He was perfect and unblemished by sin so there is no need for another sacrifice or another high priest.
When I spend time thinking about these things it allows me to "approach God's throne of grace with confidence" and it launches me into praise and thanksgiving. I hope you too can spend some time today meditating on such things.
