JEREMIAH 39:1-41:18

2 TIMOTHY 1:1-18

PSALM 90:1-91:16

PROVERBS 26:1-2

Jeremiah 39:11 Now Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon had given these orders about Jeremiah through Nebuzaradan commander of the imperial guard: 12 “Take him and look after him; don’t harm him but do for him whatever he asks.” 13 So Nebuzaradan the commander of the guard, Nebushazban a chief officer, Nergal-Sharezer a high official and all the other officers of the king of Babylon 14 sent and had Jeremiah taken out of the courtyard of the guard. They turned him over to Gedaliah son of Ahikam, the son of Shaphan, to take him back to his home. So he remained among his own people.

I talked to Denise today and we were both saying that we were not getting much from the Old Testament reading but we were still reading. Then I read this and I am struck by how God can use even those who do not know Him to protect us and provide for us.

2Timothy 1:5 I am reminded of your sincere faith, which first lived in your grandmother Lois and in your mother Eunice and, I am persuaded, now lives in you also.

This reminds me of Denise's comment yesterday about the celebration of her family members being baptized. We just talked about this joyful good news at our small group The Table tonight and we talked about Dee's nephew who came to youth group when he was 15 with wisdom beyond his years and because of him all 6 of his younger siblings have also come and they were all baptized with their mother yesterday. Those of us who know him talked about the amazing wisdom that he has been given at such a young age and we have agreed that he is a Timothy. It is such a joy to see faith handed down through the generations. I pray that it continues thru these children and their children and grandchildren.

Psalm 90:1 Lord, you have been our dwelling place

    throughout all generations.

May you be their dwelling place now and throughout all generations.
