“Praise the Lord. Praise the Lord from the heavens; praise him in the heights above. Praise him, all his angels; praise him, all his heavenly hosts. Praise him, sun and moon; praise him, all you shining stars. Praise him, you highest heavens and you waters above the skies. Let them praise the name of the Lord, for at his command they were created, and he established them for ever and ever— he issued a decree that will never pass away. Praise the Lord from the earth, you great sea creatures and all ocean depths, lightning and hail, snow and clouds, stormy winds that do his bidding, you mountains and all hills, fruit trees and all cedars, wild animals and all cattle, small creatures and flying birds, kings of the earth and all nations, you princes and all rulers on earth, young men and women, old men and children. Let them praise the name of the Lord, for his name alone is exalted; his splendor is above the earth and the heavens. And he has raised up for his people a horn, the praise of all his faithful servants, of Israel, the people close to his heart. Praise the Lord.”

Psalms 148:1-14 NIV

We are diving in daily and today I want to dive in deeper to Psalm 148.

Everything and everyone that God has created are to praise Him. All of heaven is to praise Him including the angels and the heavenly hosts. This got me wondering if there is a difference between angels and heavenly hosts. I found a video on FB where a guy explains that different roles of the heavenly hosts. Heavenly hosts is all His servants in heaven. He says that the word angel (mal'ak in Hebrew, angelos in Greek) is referring to the role of the heavenly host as a messenger. The are other rolls include archangels, throne guardians like cherubim and seraphim. You can watch the video here. https://www.facebook.com/share/v/1FzHhDmWQH/

Also the below article is a very concise on the Angel of The Lord and His Heavenly Hosts. If you are interested in the topic it is worth a read.

Anyway, back to praising God. The heavenly realm is to praise Him including the heavens - sun, moon stars. The waters above would be the clouds that hold the rain. So is all of the earthly realm. All the waters of the earth and all the creatures that live in them. All that He created do His bidding. The rain, snow, thunder and lightning happen at His command. He has placed everything in nature to be able to respond as He commands. Everything on earth is praise Him. From the mountains and trees to mankind. He doesn't include man until after everything else that He created. I think that is to tie the significance of what humanity needs is the horn of salvation that is Jesus. The below bible project video does a great job at tying this Psalm to all of bible.

Hallelu-Ya (you have to watch the video below to get this)
