LAMENTATIONS 1:1-2:22
PHILEMON 1:1-25
PSALM 101:1-8
PROVERBS 26:20
Psalm 101:2 I will be careful to lead a blameless life—
when will you come to me?
I will conduct the affairs of my house
with a blameless heart.
3 I will not look with approval
on anything that is vile.
I hate what faithless people do;
I will have no part in it.
With our recent readings in the New Testament and our conference theme being decided, living a godly life is on my mind. So, I guess it's not surprising that these verses stood out to me today. These truths are more instruction on what our goals should be for living. It always comes down to the heart. We can't live a blameless life without having a blameless heart. We can go through the motions and do things that appear good and honorable on the outside, but we won't be able to sustain it. As I think about that the only way for us to truly have a blameless heart is to have a heart surrendered to Christ. He is the one that takes away our blame. Without Him we are guilty and nothing we can do can take away the blame. He is the way that we can live a blameless life because He has taken the blame on Himself and nailed it to the cross. Only with Him can we turn from vile and faithless things and conduct our affairs in a godly way. And only with continued surrender of our will to the will of the Father will we be able to do it with any consistency. Not perfectly but when we regularly took to Jesus' example, we can trust the Holy Spirit to guide us, and we will become more and more consistent in our Christian living.
