October 3, 2026 - Mind Blowing
“For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline. So do not be ashamed of the testimony about our Lord or of me his prisoner. Rather, join with me in suffering for the gospel, by the power of God. He has saved us and called us to a holy life—not because of anything we have done but because of his own purpose and grace. This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time,”
2 Timothy 1:7-9 NIV
Again, I see the Spirit of God giving us self-discipline or as in other places self-control. But here it is listed with boldness, power and love. These things are all necessary to share a testimony about Jesus or about our lives in Christ. It is love that motivates us to share, it is boldness that opens our mouths, it is power from the Spirit that proclaims the word of God and self-discipline to live a "holy life" that preaches the gospel through our actions. He has saved us and it is all by His grace. We are given this gift of grace from the Lord Jesus Christ before the beginning of time! Mind blowing to me that before anything existed His grace was already sufficient and determined to be given.
“he says: “It is too small a thing for you to be my servant to restore the tribes of Jacob and bring back those of Israel I have kept. I will also make you a light for the Gentiles, that my salvation may reach to the ends of the earth.””
Isaiah 49:6 NIV
Being a Gentile who is on the other side of the world from where Jesus lived, I thank God that I have been included in the plan of salvation that was set in place before the beginning of time. God's promise for my salvation was not only in place since the beginning of time but it was spoken out loud to the Israelites long before Jesus came to earth to impart His grace to us.
All just totally mind blowing to me. 🤯
