LAMENTATIONS 3:1-66

HEBREWS 1:1-14

PSALM 102:1-28

PROVERBS 26:21-22

Hebrews 1:1 In the past God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets at many times and in various ways, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom also he made the universe. The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven.

There is no longer any need for prophets as in the Old Testament as people who had been given specific messages from God to communicate to His people. Jesus came and is greater than any of the prophets in being God. He is one with the Father and the Spirit, and His words are God's words directly to us. When the Israelites didn't like what the prophets said they ignored them, condemned them and even tried to kill them. That's a pattern that didn't change with Jesus. The Jewish leadership didn't like what Jesus was saying and in general they ignored Him at first, then condemned Him and eventually succeeded in having Him killed. But that was all part of the plan. There is always the question did God harden the hearts of the Jewish leaders and in effect take away their free will so that they would turn against Jesus? Or did He make the plan to accomplish the purification for sins for us knowing all things for all time, even before we are conceived, (Psalm 130:16) including how they would respond to Jesus in all situations? Honestly, I don't think either of those things are fully right. I don't think it's possible for our human understanding to be able to figure out the sovereignty of God and how predestination works. That's leaning on our own understanding if we think we can understand it. The word of God says (Prov 3:5-6) to trust in the Lord with all our heart and NOT to lean on our own understanding. All we need to do is submit to Him in everything we do and He will make our paths straight. That's why I personally don't need to know or understand how it works. It actually gives me comfort knowing that God has knowledge, understanding and power greater than I can even begin to imagine. I just know that He has given us His word and it says (Rom 8:28) that He will work all things out for good for those who love him and are called according to His purpose. After all He made the whole universe how can we possibly think that we can understand His greatness, majesty and power. I think if you ever feel like you have Him figured out you can be pretty sure your wrong. We know that Jesus provided purification for our sin so that we are no longer separated from the Father and just as He rose from the dead and ascended into heaven to be seated at the right hand of the Father in Majesty. We also know that we will also rise from the dead and join Him and witness the Majesty and Glory of God. For now, that's enough for me. Perhaps when I get the heaven it will make more sense. Or maybe it just won't matter anymore.
