JEREMIAH 6:16-8:7

COLOSSIANS 2:8-23

PSALM 78:1-31

PROVERBS 24:26

Psalm 78:1 My people, hear my teaching;

    listen to the words of my mouth.

I will open my mouth with a parable;

    I will utter hidden things, things from of old—

things we have heard and known,

    things our ancestors have told us.

We will not hide them from their descendants;

    we will tell the next generation

the praiseworthy deeds of the Lord,

    his power, and the wonders he has done.

Sharing the history and word of God and teaching it to the next generation is how we have received the word of God with such great consistency and reliability. Here we see that Jesus will speak in parables as He did. This is discipleship. Teaching using different ways including parables . As we learn and grow in our understanding of the word of God (things from of old) we are then able to utter them and teach them to the next generation. I see the next generation as the next generation of believers not just those younger than ourselves in years. The church has people in it from unbelievers, infant and toddler Christians, teenager and young adult Christians and different levels of mature Christians. We all have at least 1 generation of believer older and younger to teach and learn from. In order for a church to grow we must be learners and teachers so let us all seek to know more and also "tell the next generation the praiseworthy deeds of the Lord, his power, and the wonders he has done."
