EZEKIEL 32:17-33:20

JEREMIAH 52:28-30

PSALM 137:1-9

1 CHRONICLES 4:24-5:17

Ezekiel 33:4 then if anyone hears the trumpet but does not heed the warning and the sword comes and takes their life, their blood will be on their own head. Since they heard the sound of the trumpet but did not heed the warning, their blood will be on their own head. If they had heeded the warning, they would have saved themselves. But if the watchman sees the sword coming and does not blow the trumpet to warn the people and the sword comes and takes someone’s life, that person’s life will be taken because of their sin, but I will hold the watchman accountable for their blood.’

Why should we share the gospel? Because we are like Ezekiel. A watchman who is to sound the alarm and warn people about their sin. The great thing is that the gospel starts off good - God made everything and it was good. Then it gets real. Real bad because the reality is that mankind took what was good and broke it because of disobedience to God. So now sin is in every person's life. That is why the Israelites sinned and turned from God over and over again. And they had to make sacrifices and suffered punishment (the sword) for all their disobedience. No matter how good we try to be our goodness is broken because of the sins we commit. One sin pollutes all the "good" we may try to do. That is the warning the watchman gives. Your sin is against God and there is a sword to come as a result of sin. We live in a world that many people don't recognize their sin. They don't think there is any need for concern about God's word, and they justify their sin and even call it "good". But as watchmen and messengers we are called to not just speak truth about sin and the wages of it which is death, we have the beautify and joyful message to share that things can once again be good. In fact, very good. God Himself made a way for us to be set free from our sin and not suffer the penalty for that sin which is the ultimate sword that separates us from God for eternity. He sent Jesus the perfect man because He is also God. Jesus lived the perfect life that we cannot live. He died the death that we deserve. A brutal and painful death. That His blood might be shed as the final sacrifice for sin. All sin. And we can be restored to God and be set free from death and look forward to eternity with Him if we would but receive that gift and surrender our life to Jesus. Then when the Father looks at us, He will see His son Jesus, who will send his Holy Spirit to live in us and speak to our hearts and minds that we might know God more and live to glorify Him. So, the message we need to be proclaiming is the Good, the Bad and the Glorious! If we don't there will come a time that we will stand before Jesus at the judgement. I don't know for sure since I haven't been there, but I would think that part of that accounting to Him will include every opportunity that He gives us to sound that trumpet and what we did or didn't do with it. So, sound that trumpet!
