MARK 1:1

LUKE 1:1-4

JOHN 1:1-18

MATTHEW 1:1-17

LUKE 3:23-38

LUKE 1:5-38

Luke 1:16 He will bring back many of the people of Israel to the Lord their God. 17 And he will go on before the Lord, in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of the parents to their children and the disobedient to the wisdom of the righteous—to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.”

Liking the chronological reading today. Reading this today after yesterday's reading. And you could go back and pull out other prophecy to go with what we are beginning to read about Jesus.

Malachi 4:5 “See, I will send the prophet Elijah to you before that great and dreadful day of the Lord comes. He will turn the hearts of the parents to their children, and the hearts of the children to their parents; or else I will come and strike the land with total destruction.”

As Christians it is our job also to prepare the way for the Lords second coming. That is what the gospel is all about. Speak the truth of sin and encourage others toward repentance. For recognizing your sinfulness is the first step in turning to Jesus. So as John the Baptist turned hearts may we do the same. Being in a church that has such a strong focus on youth ministry I pray that the hearts of the parents would be turned to their children and that they will come along with the children into the house of God. And that their hearts and minds will be turned to the wisdom of the righteous and need for repentance. That their hearts would be prepared and open to receiving Jesus.
