EZEKIEL 47:1-48:35
EZEKIEL 29:17-30:19
2 KINGS 25:27-30
JEREMIAH 52:31-34
Ezekiel 47:1 The man brought me back to the entrance to the temple, and I saw water coming out from under the threshold of the temple toward the east (for the temple faced east). The water was coming down from under the south side of the temple, south of the altar. 2 He then brought me out through the north gate and led me around the outside to the outer gate facing east, and the water was trickling from the south side.
The water that flows from the temple becomes a great river. I think about Jesus. The Living Water that flows from the temple and the line of David. How Jesus came first to the Jews. A trickle of the people of the entire world. But this trickle becomes a great river.
Ezekiel 47:7 When I arrived there, I saw a great number of trees on each side of the river. 8 He said to me, “This water flows toward the eastern region and goes down into the Arabah, where it enters the Dead Sea. When it empties into the sea, the salty water there becomes fresh. 9 Swarms of living creatures will live wherever the river flows. There will be large numbers of fish, because this water flows there and makes the salt water fresh; so where the river flows everything will live.
Interesting that it flows into the Dead Sea. (The picture above is of the dead sea. There is no life no trees no animals) A sea that is so salty that no fish can live it. The water is so pure it does a miraculous thing. It can make the Dead Sea come to life. Wherever the river flows "everything will live". The Living Water goes from a trickle among a small number of population into a great river that flows into the depth of even the darkest most dead regions of the world and brings life. Turns the salty waters of our hearts that lead to death into fresh streams of living water that are abundant with life and hope and future hope.
Ezekiel 47:10 Fishermen will stand along the shore; from En Gedi to En Eglaim there will be places for spreading nets. The fish will be of many kinds—like the fish of the Mediterranean Sea.
Because of Jesus the earth is filled with living water that means there is no place that we can't fish. There is no one that He can't reach and change the hearts of. He has called us to be fishers of men, and He has made the waters the perfect condition for us to fish in. He has brough life to death and abundance to emptiness. So, get out there and fish!
Ezekiel 47:12 Fruit trees of all kinds will grow on both banks of the river. Their leaves will not wither, nor will their fruit fail. Every month they will bear fruit, because the water from the sanctuary flows to them. Their fruit will serve for food and their leaves for healing.”
We can plant ourselves on the banks of this Living Water and dig our roots down deep into it. We will never wither and will be ever fruitful. So, we will never tire of doing His work. We will joyful fish the waters without tiring if we are planted by His river. We will be fruitful as we are obedient to serve as His messengers and servants in the salty waters. He can use us to feed and heal others if we allow Him and His living water flow from us into the world.
