JUDE 1:1-25
REVELATION 1:1-2:29
Jude 3 Dear friends, I had been eagerly planning to write to you about the salvation we all share. But now I find that I must write about something else, urging you to defend the faith that God has entrusted once for all time to his holy people. 4 I say this because some ungodly people have wormed their way into your churches, saying that God’s marvelous grace allows us to live immoral lives. The condemnation of such people was recorded long ago, for they have denied our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ.
Sometimes we want to do something like talk to someone about something in particular. But then something changes it. I find that sometimes I want to say something but when the time comes I don't. It is like God shut my mouth and wouldn't let me say it. There are also times that I think I am going to say one thing and it all goes in a totally different direction. Here we see that Jude wants to encourage the church in their faith. He has put some work into planning in and was looking forward to it. But the situation requires a different approach. He needs to urge them to defend their faith. There are things going on that they need to be strong and stand up against the "ungodly" people who are spreading lies.
He had to make sure they did not fall into the trap of these lies and make sure that they knew how to speak truth against the lies.
When we find ourselves in a situation that is different than what we had planned we need to trust God. Just because we have planned out something doesn't mean we need to follow it through. Sometimes there is much more important work that needs to be done for the kingdom. Don't let your plans get in way of His. Even the best laid plans are not always best. i have i
often said we make plans and God laughs.
