EPHESIANS 3:1-5:14

Ephesians 4:1 Therefore I, a prisoner for serving the Lord, beg you to lead a life worthy of your calling, for you have been called by God. Always be humble and gentle. Be patient with each other, making allowance for each other’s faults because of your love.

My husband has been a living example of verse 2 to me over the last few days. I insisted on buying a new refrigerator and I made my case until he gave in even though he did not want to do it. He wanted new living room furniture. But in humility he gave in to what he knew would make me happy instead of fighting for what he wanted. When we bought it we knew it would be a tight fit and that we would have to take the cabinet above our old fridge out to make room for it. That did not go easily at all. But he patiently did it without getting angry or blaming me for his inconvenience. This was only the beginning. It also would not fit from side to side and a long story short every difficult attempt to fix the problem resulted in more problems. The refrigerator is still not installed, and we have to cut out a wall before it can be. He handled every set back with such grace and patience. It would have been very understandable for him to have lost his temper but he never did. Even when I told him that he was right and that I should have listened to him. He never said anything negative to me. He looked over my faults because of his love. And I believe because of the love of Christ because his reaction is not what he would have normally done. It was miraculous to me and so different than what I had expected that it had a huge impact on me. I have seen him have less to deal with and get frustrated and angry and this situation was 2 days of continuous problems that got worse and worse. Even the most patient person should have lost their cool, but he did not. My heart is filled to overflowing with love for him right now and my faith in Jesus is strengthened. That is the kind of life we should live. One that when people see us and interact with us, they can't believe how much love, grace, patience and humility we exhibit. It should be of a miraculous quality that it might catch people's attention for Jesus.
